Grace Margery Erickson, the daughter of J. Edwin and Hilma Anderson Gibson was born January 12, 1914 in Stanton, Iowa. She passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Immanuel-Fontenelle Home, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 22 days. Grace was raised in the Stanton Community. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1932 and then continued her education at Red Oak Junior College. Grace was united in marriage to Leon 'Maurice' Erickson on April 9, 1937 in Stanton, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Stanton until the fall of l970 when they moved into Red Oak. Over the years, while on the farm Grace enjoyed growing and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. Grace worked for 25 years in the Physical Therapy Department of Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and thoroughly enjoyed helping others, retiring at the age of 79. She moved to California in l998, spending 10 years there before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 2008. She treasured her family, as she loved to focus her attention on them. She greatly enjoyed being a grandma to her grandkids. Grace especially loved to cook for her family and friends and was known for her ostakaka. Music brought her lots of enjoyment over the years, and her favorites were Lawrence Welk and Guy Lombardo as well as traditional songs of faith. She was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice on December 11, 1986; daughter, Sharon Evans Angrimson; brother, Clifford Gibson; and sister, Genevieve Jarvis. Grace is survived by her children: Leon Erickson and wife Betty of Lincoln, NE; Gary Erickson and wife Elise of Overland Park, KS; and Sandra Kunz and husband Marvin of Omaha, NE; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Mamrelund Lutheran Church at Stanton, IA Burial will take place at 12:00 noon on Monday at Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, IA Rev.
