Holldorf
March 27, 1948 – August 12, 2021
Harlan Fred Holldorf, the son of Clair and Iola (Blakely) Holldorf was born March 27, 1948, in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away after a battle with cancer on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society, Villisca, Iowa, the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 14 days.
Harlan was raised in the Grant area. In 1966, he graduated from Griswold High School and on January 2, 1968, entered the U.S. Army. Harlan served in Vietnam, and after his honorable discharge on December 10, 1970, returned to Grant. Harlan worked at Parker-Hannifin Company for over 30 years. He liked to work and stay busy, so while working at Parker, he also worked for UPS and detailed cars for Red Oak Chrysler. For the past 21 years, he fried fish at the Hayloft in Grant for his sister, Zelda. Harlan enjoyed helping his nephew, Justin with his cattle and gardening. Harlan was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Grant American Legion.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alan Holldorf; and brothers-in-law: Ronald Swartz and Fay Penry.
Harlan is survived by his siblings: Roger (Jessica) Holldorf of Midland, TX, Mary Penry of Red Oak, IA; Zelda Swartz of Grant, IA and Beverly (Jim) Curtis of Eldridge, IA; his rescue dog, Pup-Pup; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Service will be held Monday, August 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
At St. John's Cemetery, south of Lyman, IA
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Grant Fire Department.
Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Iowa is in charge of Harlan's arrangements.
