John Harlan Quist, the son of Elery and Marie (Nordquist) Quist was born December 30, 1927 at Stanton, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home in Stanton, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 28 days.
Harlan was raised in Stanton, graduating with the Stanton High School class of 1945. After graduation, he farmed with his dad, Elery. Harlan was united in marriage to Carolyn Goranson on January 22, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm until moving into Stanton in 1978. Harlan was a proud Grandpa and never missed his grandchildren's events. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, going to auctions and county fairs, driving and collecting antique tractors, and all things John Deere. Harlan was an avid baseball fan and a fan of the Chicago Cubs, even attending a game at Wrigley Field with his family. Harlan took pride in the family's century farm, which has been in the family for 134 years. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents.
