Harlan Dean Wenberg, the son of Ralph F. and Alice M. Trudeau Wenberg was born December 29, 1948 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Creighton Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 28 days. Harlan was raised in the Red Oak area. He graduated from Red Oak High School in l967. Harlan entered the U. S. Navy in 1968, serving during Vietnam as a jet mechanic. After his discharge in l972, he returned to Red Oak. Harlan then served with the Iowa Army National Guard at Villisca and later with the Naval Reserve, serving in the first Persian Gulf War. He was proud of his 18 plus years of military service. Harlan was united in marriage to Barbara Cole, and later married Sharon K. Goodnight on July 9, 1976 in Nebraska City, NE. Harlan and Sharon have made Stanton their home for the pass 34 years. He worked 35 years for Parker-Hannifin Company in Red Oak. Harlan enjoyed his antique tractors and spent many hours working on small engines. He loved spending time playing cards with friends, and his trips to the Casinos. Harlan was a member of the Ernie Johnson Post #406 in Stanton. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith. Harlan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Wenberg of Stanton, IA; 5 children: Shaunda Parks of Kansas City, MO; Jennifer Selock and husband Scott of Kansas City, MO; Kevin Smith and fiancée Kristie Svendsen of Omaha, NE; Dee Skidmore and fiancé Rod Sowers of Red Oak, IA; and Kale Wenberg of Stanton, IA; 11 grandchildren; brothers: Leland Wenberg and wife Paula of Omaha, NE; and Kelvin Wenberg and wife Marilyn of Stanton, IA; and mother-in-law, Leola Goodnight of Stanton, IA; other relatives and many friends.
