Harry Dean Salisbury, the son of Harry Dale and Inis Straw Salisbury was born February 18, 1925 in Red Oak, Iowa. He died Monday, August 13, 2007 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 26 days. Harry was raised in Red Oak and on May 24, 1942 entered the U.S. Navy. He served three years before being discharged. Harry was united in marriage to Alice V. Schramm on December 30, 1947 in Red Oak. He worked different jobs while in the Red Oak area. Harry then re-entered the U.S. Navy in 1955. He served on numerous ships and bases before his retirement on December 1, 1970; serving a total of 20 years in the U.S. Navy. Harry then transferred to the Fleet Reserve. In 1972, Harry and Alice moved to southwest Iowa where they lived in Griswold for a short time and then moved to Red Oak. He worked for Moore Electric for 2 years while working other jobs. They moved to Shenandoah in l974, where they owned and operated Shenandoah Electric until 1984. From 1982 to l984 they made their home in Coin, Iowa. After selling their business, Harry and Alice enjoyed traveling. In 1990, they returned to Red Oak. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jeffrey; two brothers: Russell and Charles; and sister: Gayle. Harry is survived by his wife: Alice V. Salisbury of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Cheryl D. Larson and husband Paul of Casper, Wyoming; 3 grandchildren: Timothy Bressler and wife Tina, Amy Larson and Shaila Massie and husband Doug; 5 great-grandchildren; brother: Michael Salisbury and wife Chris of Omaha, Nebraska; sister: Frances Allison of Silverdale, Washington; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives. Harry was cremated. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak.
