Obituary

Helen E. Bass, a devoted daughter of Howard and Claire Shearer Bass was born July 29, 1918 in Montgomery County, IA. She passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Lutheran Home in York, PA at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 26 days. Helen grew up on the family farm south of Red Oak, IA. She moved to Red Oak with her mom and dad when they retired from farming. She faithfully cared for her parents the rest of their days. In 1981, Helen moved to Pennsylvania to live with her sister Carole. Helen was friendly to all, maintaining a lovable, helpful demeanor, and a splendid attitude. Helen enjoyed baking cinnamon buns and fudge for family and friends. She was fond of stuffed animals and she especially loved kittens. She loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Carole Bonsall and brother, Gordon Bass. Helen is survived by six nephews: Byron Bass, Greg Weeks, Doug Weeks, Ken Weeks, Randy Weeks, and Bill Weeks; and two nieces: Janet Lantz and Susan Myers. Graveside Service in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Caryn Pedersen, Officiating Family and friends may gather at her gravesite in Evergreen Cemetery prior to the service. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak in charge of the graveside service.
