James Russell Brodie III, the son of James Russell and Sylvia Joanne (Mullaney) Brodie II was born October 17, 1955 at Sioux City, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 25 days.
While Jim lived many years of his youth in Sioux City, IA, the family also lived in Connecticut, New York and New Mexico. At a young age, he began working in a restaurant and fell in love with cooking. Over Jim's career of 30 plus years, he earned the title, Sous Chef and felt fortunate to work all over the country. He met the love of his life, Cindy Cain over french fries and eight weeks later on December 24, 1987, they were united in marriage at Elk Point, South Dakota. Throughout the years, Jim and Cindy made their home in several Midwest communities, Colorado and Tennessee. For nearly 10 years, they lived north of Stanton, where Jim worked for Stanton's Homeplate Restaurant and The Red Coach Inn Restaurant in Red Oak. Jim was an animal lover, especially of dogs and enjoyed helping Cindy with her dog training business. He liked being outdoors, gardening, working on older cars and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. For years, Jim's health steadily declined, but his love for his family grew stronger and absolute, as he treasured them dearly. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two infant daughters: Jessica Ann and Jennifer Jo Brodie.
Jim is survived by his wife, Cindy Brodie of Anthon, IA; sons: Jason Brodie of North Sioux City, SD and John Brodie and his wife Kristen of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters: Joan Scot Martin and husband Joe of Edmund, OK and Allison Todd Brodie of Denver, CO; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bill and Diana Cain of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law: Tegwin Cain of St. Joe, MO and Dana Lamansky and husband Aaron of Clive, IA; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn.
