James Richard Chmielowiec, the son of Valentine and Elizabeth (Wambach) Chmielowiec was born December 20, 1940 at Peckville, Pennsylvania. He passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 19 days.

James was raised in Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, on November 10, 1960, James entered the U.S. Air Force. He served for 20 years, and was honorably discharged as a computer operations supervisor on November 30, 1980. After his retirement from the military, he worked at Rocky Flats Plant in computer security. He loved playing golf and collection chess sets. James was united in marriage to Patricia Erickson on March 17, 1989, in Colorado. In 1991, they made Red Oak their home where he worked for CDS. James was a member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge, having served as president.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia on May 6, 2003; stepson, Randy Turpen and his wife, Linda.

James is survived by children: James R. Chmielowiec Jr of Broomfield, CO; Elaine (Robert) Braught of Westminster, CO; Tammy (Mark) Delozier of Lakeville, MN; Kim (Dave) Barnes of Columbia, IN; and Scott Turpen of Indianola, IA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
