Obituary

James Donald Clarence Miller, the son of Clarence and Edith (Brodd) was born December 25, 1927, in Montgomery County, Iowa, north of Stanton. He passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Accura Healthcare Stanton, Iowa, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 20 days.

James was raised in the Stanton area. On November 20, 1950, James entered the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 27, 1952. James returned to Stanton and on December 6, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Martens at Lyman, Iowa. He farmed for many years in the Stanton area. In 1982, James and Marjorie moved into Red Oak. He then worked at the Montgomery County Court House as a custodian, retiring in 1994. James enjoyed woodworking, yard care, traveling, and craft shows where he sold his wood products. James was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and American Legion Lorraine Post #67, both of Red Oak, Iowa.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie on June 1, 2017; brother, Kenneth Miller; sisters: Maxine England and Violet Anderson.

James is survived by his four children: Michelle (Charles) Morton of Des Moines, IA, Michael (Stephanie) Miller of Council Bluffs, IA, Marten (Delia) Miller of Chino Hills, CA, and Rebecca (Stephen) Peterson of Stanton, IA; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, March 17, 2022, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until service time of 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice or a charity of your choice.
