James Marvin Guffey, the son of Ray and Rozella Pim Guffey, was born March 12, 1940 in Montgomery County, Iowa. He passed away on December 13, 2012 at his home in Stanton, Iowa at the age of 72 years. James was raised in the Wales and Coburg areas. He graduated valedictorian of his class at Coburg High School. James farmed and raised livestock south of Red Oak, in the Coburg area most of his life. While farming, he also worked in Red Oak for Uniroyal, Star Agri, and as the night clerk at the Holiday Inn. In 1992, James moved into Stanton. He worked many years, and retired from the Montgomery County Secondary Roads Department. In his younger years, James enjoyed playing sports, and later, making weekly trips to area sale barns and driving around the country side. James was preceded in death by his parents. James is survived by two sisters: Dora McCullough and husband Merle of Wichita, KS; and Ruth Blackmore and husband Jerry of Denison, IA; brother, Ray Guffey and wife Susan of Stanton, IA; nieces, nephews, aunts, other relatives and friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. James wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held. Memorials may be directed to the family.
