James LeRoy Nordby, the son of Leonard and Judith (Welch) Nordby was born March 12, 1938 at St. Paul, Minnesota. He passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 16 days.

James was raised in Minnesota and entered the U.S. Army on September 10, 1958 at Minneapolis, MN and was honorably discharged on September 9, 1960, then served again from 1961 to 1962. He lived in Minnesota, Arizona and Iowa. He was united in marriage to Merlene Resler on October 29, 2013 in Red Oak, Iowa. The past seven years was a resident of Villisca Good Samaritan Society.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Nordby; parents-in-law, Veda and Iris Resler.

James is survived his wife, Merlene Nordby of Red Oak, IA; son, Mark Nordby of Bloomington, MN; daughters: Susan Diersen of Rush City, MN and Jamie Nordby of Tualatin, OR; 4 grandchildren; sister, Betty Olson of Sacramento, CA; brother, Jerry Nordby of Fargo, ND; other relatives and friends.

Military Graveside Service will be held
