Obituary

Chris Roach, the son of J. Frederick and Lois M. Bergman Roach was born March 6, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa. He died suddenly on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 54 years, 2 months and 29 days.

Chris was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in l975. He continued his higher education at Iowa Western Community College, Council Bluffs, having graduated as a certified Welder in l977. Chris had made his home in Omaha since 1977. He began his welding career with Ace Welding and most recently worked for Pre-Wel Manufacturing of Omaha. Chris loved welding, his job and co-workers. He had his own portable welder, welding for friends in his spare time. He recently purchased his first home in which he was very proud of, along with his yard and garden. Chris enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Oak.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents; niece, Isabella DeRoeck; aunt, Mary Amento; and uncles: Ed Roach and Allen Fichter.

Chris is survived by his parents, J. Frederick & Lois Roach of Red Oak, IA; six sisters and one brother along with their spouses: Monica & Tom Gerhart of Papillion, NE; Teresa & Rick Harrison of Red Oak, IA; Marilyn & Dick Paul of Red Oak, IA; Barb & Marc Florez of Omaha, NE; Rita & Bob Williams of Council Bluffs, IA; Sarah & Robb DeRoeck of Monroe, MI; and Mike & Judye Roach of Temecula, CA; nieces & nephews: Amy Gerhart, Christine Gerhart, Mike Gerhart, Becca Harrison, Angie & Cory Watts, Cathy & Jim Fox, Travis & Julia Paul, Steven & Kam Paul, Brian Paul, Jason Heckman, Daniel & Cherie Heckman, Sally Williams, Robey DeRoeck and Ian DeRoeck; great-nieces & nephews: Haylee & Caitlin Fox, Owen Paul, McKinsea Alexander and Jonathan & Emily Heckman; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 8, 2009 at 10:30 a.m.
at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Red Oak, IA
Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, rural Red Oak, IA

Wake service will be held at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Sunday, June 7, 2009 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m.

A memorial is being established in Chris's name.
