Obituary

Jane Durey Lorimor, the daughter of Guy and Charlotte Pettit Campbell was born January 23, 1926 in Carson, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital, Council Bluffs, Iowa following a short illness at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 22 days. Jane graduated from Carson High School in l943. She continued her education, attending Simpson College and then the University of Nebraska at Omaha, graduating with a degree in teaching. Jane was united in marriage to Charles M. Durey on June 6, 1948 in Carson, IA. They were blessed with three daughters: Chris, Dawn and Lisa. Charles preceded Jane in death on December 10, 1971. On August 7, 1976 Jane was united in marriage to Robert Lorimor in Red Oak, IA. Robert passed away on June 18, 2001. Jane was a music teacher and taught elementary students in Red Oak for many years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak and United Methodist Women. Jane's great passion was singing. She sang in the church choir for approximately 40 years. Throughout the years, she was sought after for her beautiful singing voice for many weddings and funerals. Jane was an active sister in PEO, Chapter HB of Red Oak. She was a collegiate and alumna member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and involved with the local alumnae group. Jane volunteered at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and was also involved with many other community activities. She liked to have fun and enjoyed playing Bridge with her dear friends. Jane was also a talented cross stitcher and tole painter. Nothing delighted her more than spending time with her family. There were many holidays when the family would gather at their home in the country, where Jane had prepared dinner for 30 people. The family was always happy to be together, even when room was crowded. She recently and proudly welcomed her first great-grandchild, Haley to the family. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; and husbands: Charles Durey on December 10, 1971, and Robert Lorimor on June 18, 2001. Jane is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Chris and Jim Heuer of Council Bluffs, IA; Dawn and Doug Duven of Waterloo, IA; Lisa and Steve Bunten of Ft. Collins, CO; stepdaughters and their husbands: Barb and Ken Snyder of Woodridge, IL; and Deb and Jim Grandos of Lindenhurst, IL; stepson and his wife, John and Jennifer Lorimor of Aurora, CO; grandchildren: Bill Heuer and fiancé Laura Olson, Anne and Dan Stockmann, Susie and Sean Rensch, Jennifer Duven, Emily Duven, Ben Duven, Sara and Mike Allison, Devin Bunten, Kyle Bunten, Nicholas Garretson, Spencer Garretson, Laura Snyder, Ryan Snyder, Allison Grandos, Mark Grandos and Eric Lorimor; and great-granddaughter, Haley Rensch; sister, Corinne Price of McCook, NE; sisters-in-law, Shirley Schaaf and husband Stanley of Randolph, IA; and Phyllis Hyde of New Albin, IA; brothers-in-law: W.T. Tede Lorimor Jr. and wife Jaynie of Shenandoah, IA; and Richard Durey and wife Doris of Jonesboro, TN; nieces, nephews and other relatives, along with a host of friends. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September l7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Red Oak, IA Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Fred Pilecki, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 16. from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials to First United Methodist Church, Red Oak Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
