Obituary

Janice Sophia Crouse, the daughter of Einar and Gunhild (Carlson) Johnson was born on a very snowy day on February 14, 1936 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Janice was raised on a farm in rural Red Oak. She graduated with the Red Oak High School class of 1953 and attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska. Janice was united in marriage to Bobby D. Crouse on September 29, 1957 in Red Oak. They made their home in the Emerson and Hastings area and Janice worked a few years for the ASCS office in Malvern. She then began her 28-year career with the Natural Gas Pipeline Company as an administrative assistant, from which she retired. Janice enjoyed bowling, traveling, sailing on cruises, and playing cards with family and friends. She was an avid reader and researched many items and investments before purchases were made. Janice attended the Emerson United Methodist Church, long standing member of the Emerson Community Club, was past president of Hen House Social club, past member of Order of Eastern Star, and American Legion Levi Burton Post 575 Auxiliary, all of Emerson and Beta Sigma Phi of Red Oak.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby on September 26, 1994; brother, Donald Johnson; brothers and sisters in-law: Vernon Crouse, Cliff and Betty Baldozier, Janis Crouse and Bill Ryan.

Janice is survived by her children: Alan Crouse and wife, Janet of Hastings, IA and Ann Hoy and husband, James of Falls City, NE; brother, Darold Johnson and wife, Donna of Pocatello, ID; sister-in-law, Karen Johnson Urich of Bolivar, MO; brothers and sisters in-law: Mary Ryan of O'Neill, NE, Shirley Crouse of Loveland, CO, Donald and Janet Crouse of Campbell, TX, Aaron Crouse of Hastings, IA and Carolyn Kennedy of Plattsmouth, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn.

Celebration of Life Service and Order of Eastern Star Service

Inurnment at the Malvern Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday evening, July 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the Emerson Fire & Rescue.
