Jean LaVonne Berscheid, the daughter of Victor and Shirley (Moore) Johnson was born June 16, 1938, in Fremont County, Iowa. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home in rural Emerson, Iowa, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the age of 83 years, 5 months and 23 days.
Jean was raised in southwest Iowa and during her high school years the family moved to Omaha, NE. Jean was a South Omaha Girl, graduating from South High School. Her first job, fresh out of high school, was balancing the books for the Omaha Board of Education which at that time was located in the Joslyn Castle. Over her career she worked for various companies including Midwest Equipment, Bozell and Jacobs, Packaging Corporation, and Greyhound Bus Lines. On May 25, 1968, Jean was united in marriage to Stephen J. Berscheid in Papillion, Nebraska. In 1969, Jean and Stephen moved to Glenwood, Iowa, and in 1985, they made their home where they currently live in rural Emerson, Iowa. Jean was an artistic painter, having donated many of her paintings to benefit fundraisers and auctions. She enjoyed gardening, animals and spending time outdoors.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Johnson and sister, Mary Bahl.
Jean is survived by her husband, Stephen Berscheid of rural Emerson, IA; daughter, Stephanie and husband Steven Miller of Red Oak, IA; granddaughter, Corinne Miller of Council Bluffs, IA; brother, Richard Johnson of Emerson, IA and sister, Shirley Arndt of Danville, IN; other relatives and friends.

Jean's wishes were to be cremated and no services held.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is assisting the family with Jean's arrangements.
