Obituary

Jean L. Blue, the daughter of Donald and Grace Buchanan Blue was born June 26, 1925 in Montgomery County, Iowa. She died suddenly on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at her home in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 4 days. Jean was raised in the Red Oak area and in 1942 graduated from Red Oak High School. Following graduation, Jean performed as a musician traveling all over the United States. Ready to "stay in one place", Jean moved to Flint, Michigan and began working in the shoe repair business. In 1948, Jean settled in Chicago, Illinois where she continued working in the shoe repair business for the next 22 years. In 1970, she moved back home to Red Oak. For the next 15 years, Jean worked at the Murphy Calendar Company. She took four years off and in l989, began working in the kitchen for Casey's General Store on south Broadway in Red Oak. She worked 19 years at Casey's. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Red Oak. She enjoyed all music and listening to the radio or CD's. Jean loved pets and enjoyed the company of her faithful and loyal companion, a black and white Terrier dog: Misty. Jean was preceded in death by her parents. Jean is survived by cousins, other relatives and many friends. Graveside service and burial will be held at Salem Cemetery Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Nancy Schultz, Officiating Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour prior to service at Sellergren Lindell DeMarce Funeral Home. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home entrusted with services.
