Jean Louise Hofer, longtime resident of Red Oak, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 9 months and a day. Jean was born in Red Oak to Glen and Mildred (Sprague) Doan on February 21, 1938. She was raised in Villisca, Iowa and graduated from Villisca Community High School and later attended Junior College in Bismarck, North Dakota. In 1957, Jean was united in marriage to Lester Lundgren, and to this union two children were born, Patty Lundgren and Guy Lundgren. In 1967, Jean was united in marriage to Sam Hofer; they resided in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area until Sam's death in 2003. She then returned to Red Oak to be near her mother. Jean enjoyed gardening and had a great love of animals. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Sam on April 24, 2003. Jean is survived by two children: Patty Lundgren and Guy Lundgren both of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Charles Doan of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Jean's wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota Memorials are suggested to Heartland Home Health and Hospice. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
