J ean Elizabeth Wiggins, the daughter of Raymond and Loreta (Block) Schwieter was born March 27, 1929 at Monroe City, Missouri. She passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 28 days.
Jean graduated from high school at Clarence, Missouri in 1946. She attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO, where she studied accounting. Jean was involved in accounting and finance her entire career. She worked for General Motors in cost accounting and then for a car dealership in Clarence and Moberly, MO. Jean was united in marriage to Omar R. Finnell and to this union their daughter, Judith was born. Jean was later married to Harry Wiggins and to this union their daughter, Shayla was born. The family made their home in Prairie City, Iowa, where she worked for the Prairie City School system and later at the local bank. Jean continued her career by working for non-profit United Way, and Banker Life Company in Mason City. Jean completed her working years in Des Moines with Lutheran Social Services, and the State of Iowa with the Elder Affairs and Department of Human Services. In 2004, Jean moved to Red Oak to be closer to her family. She was a beautiful seamstress and when her girls were young, enjoyed sharing her love and creativity by making most of their lovely clothes. Jean was an avid reader, loved gardening and found time to play golf. She was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Prairie City, singing in the choir. In Red Oak, Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as UMW treasurer for years. Jean was a person who liked fixing-up her home, as she was very independent and strong willed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Diane Jennings; great-grandchild, Aubrey Davis and aunt, Erma E. Ellyson.
Jean is survived by two daughters: Judith Gregg and husband, Dan of Phoenix, AZ and Shayla Jennings and husband, David of Red Oak, IA; 7 grandchildren: Katie (Kevin) O'Neill, Brian (Sandra) Allison, Patrick Allison, Lance (Rachel) Allison, James (Alix) Gregg, Jeremy (Rebecca) Gregg, and Justin (Angel) Gregg; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family on Tuesday evening January 30, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Waveland Cemetery at Prairie City, Iowa.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Public Library or Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
