Velura Jeanne Mullen, the daughter of Herbert R. and Faye V. (Chambers) Messinger was born November 1, 1925 at Glenwood, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Red Oak Rehab & Care Center, Red Oak, IA at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Jeanne was raised in Glenwood, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Gustin, and to this union was born a son, Richard W. Gustin. On February 1, 1952, Jeanne was married to Ronald D. Mullen at Red Oak, Iowa. They made their home in Stanton, Iowa for a time before moving to Red Oak in 1966. Jeanne worked 36 years for Union Carbide Battery Company. She enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome, especially in the western United States. Jeanne loved being outdoors, hunting for rocks and arrowheads, spending time and walking around at Viking Lake, and working in her yard.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald on November 20, 2013; son, Richard Gustin; brother, Jack; and sister, Maxine.

Jeanne is survived by daughter-in-law, Sharon K. Gustin of Longview, WA; 3 grandsons: Paul A. (Rosalia) Gustin, and Patrick L. Gustin, both of Kelso, WA, and Phillip R. (Lisa) Gustin of Longview, WA; 6 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
