Obituary

JoAnn Hawker, the daughter of Clifford C. and Rose E. Houser Page was born September 5, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa. She passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Creighton Medical Center, Omaha, NE, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 1 day. JoAnn was raised and attended school in Red Oak. Following school, she lived in Arkansas, Missouri and Colorado before returning to Red Oak. JoAnn was united in marriage to Robert J. Hawker on March 22, l965 in Creston, Iowa. They made their home in Creston from 1973 until Robert's death in l988. JoAnn moved back to Red Oak in 1989 to be closer to family. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting and woodworking. JoAnn also volunteered many hours with the Church of the Nazarene Food Bank. She loved spending time with her family and friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Hawker on November 26, 1988; 5 sisters: Viola Page, Fayetta Cassidy, Mary Ross, Florence Archer and Marjorie Archer; and 4 brothers: John, Levi "Pete", Frank "Bud" and Chester. JoAnn is survived by sons: Randy Trammell and wife Sam of Clarksville, TN; and Ricky Trammell; daughter, Lisa Matteson and husband Kevin of Fredonia, NY; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mrs. Gladys Clark of Red Oak, IA and Shirley Snyder and husband Alton of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Monday evening with a short service beginning at 6:00 p.m. and visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak. Rev. Alan Dean, Officiating Burial will take place at a later date in Creston, Iowa. Memorials to the Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry of Red Oak. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
