Joan Louise Morrison, the daughter of Fred and Inez Anderson Nazerene was born October 1, 1929 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 3 days. Joan lived her first sixty-four years in Red Oak. She was united in marriage to W. Dick Morrison on May 8, 1949 in Red Oak, Iowa. Joan was a District Juvenile Court Officer for 27 years for Montgomery, Mills, Page and Fremont counties in Iowa. In 1994, following the death of her husband and retiring from her career, Joan moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. She was an active Husker staff member and spent fourteen years selling tickets for the Huskers. Joan loved traveling with her family to Husker bowl games. When she moved to Lincoln, she began playing bridge with the Welcome Wagon bridge group. Over the years, she blossomed into being a part of many bridge groups. Dick and Joan built their first home together in Red Oak, and she used her skills to build her second home in Lincoln. When she first moved to Lincoln, she also worked several years as a tour guide for Good Life Tours. Later, she started her own company JO'S TOURS. Her first trip to Branson led to all corners of the United States and Europe, and her last trip was last spring to China, just before the Olympics. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Morrison on December 19, 1991; mother, Inez Foster; father, Fred Nazerene; step-father, Stewart Foster; and sister, Betty Black. Joan is survived by her sons: Steve Morrison and his wife Roberta of Lincoln, NE; and Al Thomas of Lincoln, NE; daughters: Lindy Rolofson and her husband Carey of Platte City, MO; and Mardy McKinney and her husband Kenneth of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Amanda Rolofson and Brett Rolofson of Platte City, MO; Jamie Ligon and her husband Shane of Lincoln, NE; Robert Morrison and Jeff Morrison of Lincoln, NE; and Andrew McKinney of Overland Park, KS; and great-grandchild, James Ligon of Lincoln, NE. Funeral Service in Lincoln will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sheridan Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Aspen Cremation and Burial Service in charge of the arrangements in Lincoln. Funeral Service in Red Oak will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Red Oak.
