Joetta Claire Wooton, the daughter of Wendell and Fern Hall Wilson, was born February 3, 1930 in Randolph, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 20 days. Joetta was raised on a farm near Randolph. She graduated in 1947 from Randolph High School and then attended business school. Following college, she moved to California where she worked for Sears. On March 26, 1948, Joetta was united in marriage to John Wooton in Modesto, California. They made their home in California until 1953, when they moved back to Randolph. Joetta worked a few years at the post office. She then began a banking career at the Randolph State Bank. She worked at the bank for 30 years, retiring in l995. Joetta was a past member of the Presbyterian Church in Randolph. She enjoyed painting, sewing, square dancing and gardening. Joetta cherished her family and loved helping her grandchildren. She had lived with her son, Joel and wife Vicki for 15 years. Joetta had been a resident of Red Oak Good Samaritan Society since May of 2009. Joetta was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gail Wilson. Joetta is survived by her three children: Brad Wooton and wife Pastor Judy of Rockford, IA; Joel Wooton and wife Vicki of Wymore, NE; and Deb Wooton of Camanche, IA; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ted Wilson of Malvern, IA; and Terry Wilson and wife Pat of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters: Jean Nosekabel of Glenwood, IA; Jan Bliss of Randolph, IA; Hazel Smith of Tabor, IA; and Carol Wilson of Randolph, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Randolph Methodist Church, Randolph, Iowa Memorials to the Salvation Army or National Audubon Society. Mrs. Wooton's wishes were to have her body donated to the Medical Research at the University of Iowa Medical School. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home assisting the family with arrangements.
