Obituary

John David “David” Johnson was born July 26, 1945, and passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 2 days.

David lived his entire life in Stanton, Iowa, as a farmer and dedicated family member. He faithfully attended Mamrelund Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. David farmed with his parents, Alvin and Elsie Johnson, just east of town and was an invaluable resource, also mowing the big yard and doing any chores needed. He moved into town with his Mom in 2010. David fully participated in the life of the Stanton community with his parents - attending all the many school and community events. As an adult, he was able to attend Nishna Productions sheltered workshop where he continued to develop his life skills and participated and earned medals in the Special Olympics as a bowler. He was recognized for his long record of blood donations. Some favorite things include being and working outdoors, a good jigsaw puzzle, John Deere tractors, a good piece of rye bread (or any bread), and time with family.

David is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tom Williams. He is survived by three sisters: Rosanne Williams, Ellen (Kevin) Stigge, and Elizabeth (Jerry) Powell; eight nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. David is remembered and appreciated for his dedication to hard work and his steadfast love of God, family, and friends. His was a unique life, and we are blessed by his many good years with us all.

Memorials may be directed to Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa or Stanton Fire and Rescue.

A private family service will be held at a future date.
