John Richard Mullenix, the son of Richard and Faye (Townsend) Mullenix, was born December 28, 1957, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He passed away due to injuries from an automobile accident on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Nebraska Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 64 years, 7 months, and 23 days.
John answered the altar call at a Billy Graham meeting while the family lived in Pammel Court, Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He was eight years old when his family moved to Red Oak. John graduated from Red Oak High School in 1976. He completed a two-year music course at Iowa Western Community College at Clarinda, and while in Utah, attended classes at Dixie University. John worked steel construction in Iowa, Illinois, Mississippi, Michigan, Oklahoma and Utah. John was united in marriage to Norma Breeden and later to Brenda Saylor. He enjoyed playing his guitars, watching movies, carving walking sticks, and playing pool and cribbage. John was a member of First Baptist Church/The Bridge and the Eagles Lodge in Red Oak. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Tom.
John is survived by his mother, Faye Mullenix of Red Oak, IA; brothers: Robert (Liz) Mullenix of Oxford, OH, William (Dee) Mullenix of Red Oak, IA, and Kyle (Tami) Mullenix of Sergeant Bluff, IA; nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
An informal coffee will be held at The Bridge following the service.
