Joseph R. Farlin, age 40 of Emerson, Iowa Joseph Raymond Farlin, the son of Leo R. and Sharon L. Baker Farlin was born May 10, 1967 in Corning, Iowa. He died suddenly on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Creighton Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 40 years, 7 months, and 8 days. Joseph was born in Corning, IA, and throughout his childhood he and his family lived in Villisca, Creston and Emerson, IA. Joseph was a 1985 graduate of Nishna Valley High School. Following high school, Joseph attended and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, MO in l990. After graduation, he began working for Continental General Insurance and World Insurance both of Omaha, NE. Later, he moved to Des Moines, IA, where he worked for the Amerus Group. Joseph was united in marriage to Hana Buchtova on August 23, 2003 at Nove Mesto Na Morave, Czech Republic. Joseph and Hana relocated from Des Moines to Emerson, IA in May of 2005. Recently, he was employed with the U. S. Postal Service as a relief Postmaster. Joseph was a devoted race car fan; he faithfully watched and cheered on his St. Louis Cardinals baseball team; was a baseball card collector; and loved trains. Joseph was also an avid Nebraska fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo. Joseph is survived by his wife, Hana Farlin of Emerson, IA; daughter, Ema; mother, Sharon Farlin of Emerson, IA; brother, Darrell Farlin of Emerson, IA; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives, along with friends. Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 21, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church in Villisca, IA Burial in Arlington Cemetery, rural Villisca, IA Rev. Kevin Skipworth, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial is being established in Joseph's name.
