Keith Eugene Peterson, the son of Clarence and Esther (Honett) Peterson was born June 19, 1930 at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 29 days. Keith attended Burke Country School through the 8th grade and graduated from Stanton High School in 1948. He entered the U. S. Marine Corps in November of 1950, serving during the Korean War. Keith was united in marriage to Jean Jackson on July 11, 1953 at Compton, California. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps with the rank of SGT in March of 1955, when Keith and Jean made their home in the Wallin, Iowa area. Keith started farming along with working part-time for the Stanton Co-Op. In 1973, he began a career with NaChurs Plant Food Company in Red Oak working as a truck driver, dispatcher and retiring as plant manager in 1992. Keith was a member of the Tabor Lutheran Church, serving on the church council many years, a member of the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 of Stanton, and served as a 4-H leader for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, antiquing and attending auctions. Keith was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Donald and brother, Clayton. Keith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Peterson of Stanton, IA; four children: Danny (JoAnn) Peterson of Stanton, IA; Donna Viegut of Berthoud, CO; Karl (Candace) Peterson of Lenox, IA; and Linda (Tom) Snyder of Clarinda, IA; 13 grandchildren: Katie (Jason) Hart, Klint (Este) Peterson, Kyle (Mindy) Peterson, Jason (Carey) Viegut, Jennifer Viegut, Britney Peterson, Alex (Anna) Peterson, Tyler (Maggie) Peterson, Mason Peterson, Madison Peterson, Jessica Snyder, Erin (Justin) Kirsch and Megan Snyder; 11 great-grandchildren: Kyla, Brett and Brody Hart, Lydia Peterson, Jordyn & Amelia Peterson, Kyndall & Peyton Viegut, Sophia & Ava Peterson, and Ryland Kirsch; and sister, Jeanette Bredberg of Red Oak, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside Service will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa Family and friends may meet at the cemetery for the service. Rev.
