Obituary

Kenneth Lloyd Brown, the son of Cecil and Iva (Stewart) Brown was born August 26, 1939, in Daviess County, Missouri. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 19 days.

Kenneth grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Pattonsburg High School in 1958, as valedictorian of his class, and for a brief time attended Maryville College, Maryville, Missouri. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force on November 14, 1958. Kenneth was united in marriage to Gloria Marie Holmes, and they were blessed with 3 children. On October 1, 1962, Kenneth was honorably discharged from the Air Force, and the family made their home in Stanton, Iowa. Kenneth dedicated 38 years to the State of Iowa Department of Transportation, which he retired from. He met his second wife, Colleen Johnson, and they were united in marriage in 1987. They were blessed with one son. Kenneth enjoyed reading educational books, gardening, playing cards and chess. He and Colleen loved to go out to eat at many different restaurants.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Billy and Junior Brown; and 4 sisters: Bessie Morris, Velma Flemming, Betty Kent and Leona Davis.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Colleen Brown of Red Oak, IA; 2 daughters: Kathryn Brown of Hurdle Mills, NC and Debra (John) Blay of Red Oak, IA; 2 sons: Johnathon Brown of Red Oak, IA and David Brown of Willington, KS; and step-son, Timothy Irvin of Kingfisher, OK; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Private Family Memorial Services with Military Rites will be held.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
