Kenneth William Goranson, the son of Harry W. and Ellen O. Clauson Goranson was born August 11, 1927 on a farm near Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 82 years and 10 months. Kenneth was raised on a farm near Red Oak. He graduated from Red Oak High School in l945. Following high school he began his farming career. Kenneth was united in marriage to Helen Geraldine Berg on November 11, l947 and to this union his three children were born. Gerry passed away on July 29, l966. He later married Sheila J. Mirts on August 18, l968. Kenneth farmed until his retirement. In 1990, he and Sheila made Belle Vista, Arkansas their home. Sheila passed away on September 19, 1998. Kenneth was a past member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, serving many years on the board and as president. He was a member and served on the board and as president of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, Montgomery County Fair Board and Montgomery County Pork Producers. In 1993, Kenneth was inducted into the Montgomery County Fair Hall of Fame for his service and leadership to both the fair and 4-H. Kenneth was also a past member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge. On May 28, 2000, Kenneth married Lillian Stuewe. Lillian passed away February 10, 2005. In 2005, he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wives: Gerry, Sheila and Lillian; and sister, Eleanor White. Kenneth is survived by children: Mark Goranson and wife Sue of Red Oak, IA; Kirk Goranson and wife Diane of Crete, NE; and Joanie Pfeifer and husband Al of Elkhorn, NE; 5 grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Justin, Wesley and Ethan and great-granddaughter: Madison K. Goranson; sister, Carolyn Quist and husband Harlan of Stanton, IA; sister-in-law, Eleanor Wierman and husband Dean of Bella Vista, AR; step-children: Randy Stuewe and wife Cindy of Monterey, CA; Bob Stuewe of Los Alamos, NM; step-grandchildren: Connor and Kaitlin Stuewe; special friend, Olga Schroder of Council Bluffs, IA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Celebration of Life Gathering for Kenneth Goranson will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Gold Fair Building, 1811 N. 4th Street, Red Oak, Iowa Family asks all attendees to please come in casual attire. Kenneth requested no flowers and a memorial is being established in his name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
