Obituary

Kennie Wayne Ruple, the son of Kenneth and Fannie (Vance) Ruple, was born December 5, 1945, in Vilonia, Arkansas. He died on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 2 days.

The family moved to Newton, Iowa, when Kennie was a young boy. In 1964, he graduated from Newton High School. Kennie went to work at the Hy-Vee store in Newton and continued a 43-year career with Hy-Vee. He was with Hy-Vee in Iowa at Newton, Webster City, Grinnell, and in Missouri at Maryville, before earning the title, store director at future locations. On July 17, 1976, Kennie was united in marriage to Ann L. Maxell in Stanton, Iowa. Kennie was store director at the stores in Rock Rapids, Sioux Center and then Clarinda, of which he retired from. After Kennie retired in 2004, he and Ann moved to Papillion, NE. Kennie was a fun-filled person. He loved his corvettes, and especially playing poker for the past 25 years with his friends in Clarinda. Kennie enjoyed coffee, mainly McDonald's coffee. He would stop two or three times a day to get his cup of java and talk with his buddies. While in Papillion, he had a group of friends who would meet at the Glass Shop every day, spending hours at a time together. Kennie was a past member of the Lions Club in Clarinda and loved his two dogs.

Kennie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James; and two sisters: Rose and Vickie.

Kennie is survived by his wife, Ann Ruple of Papillion, NE; son, Tony Ruple and companion Tina of Stanton, IA; two daughters: Holly (Joel) Spencer of Homer, IL and Amy Ruple and fiancé  Bryce Bishop of Papillion, NE; grandson, Seth (Fatemeh) Hardwick; and brother-in-law, Ron Maxell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held
Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
At Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, Iowa

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
