LaDonna Mae Raney, the daughter of Richard and Frances W. (Carlsward) Carlson was born November 15, 1931, on a farm south of Stanton, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Stanton, Iowa, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 4 days.

LaDonna grew up on a farm south of Stanton. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1950. While in high school, LaDonna was a cheerleader, played basketball and was the homecoming queen. On March 4, 1950, LaDonna was united in marriage to James T. Raney in Stanton, Iowa. Over the years, LaDonna worked at The Murphy Calendar Company in Red Oak, sold Avon and for the Good Samaritan Society in Villisca. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed helping children. For 70 years, Jim and LaDonna made their home on and worked Jim's family farm, before retiring and moving to Regency Retirement in Red Oak, Iowa. LaDonna loved her family and friends dearly and hosting company. She was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, having served on the board. LaDonna enjoyed spending time at Okoboji with her family in the summertime, was an avid Iowa State fan and enjoyed watching sports.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randall; sister, Beverly Westenburg and her husband, Bob; brothers: Richard Carlson and his wife, Joy, and William Carlson; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Carlson.

LaDonna is survived by her husband of 73 years, James T. Raney of Stanton, IA; three children: Judy (Larry) Rhamy of Avoca, IA, Larry (Nancy) Raney of Winterset, IA and Mark Raney of Clarinda, IA; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marcia (Robert) Sierp of Gold Canyon, AZ; and brothers: Darrell Carlson of Red Oak, IA, Roger (Mary Jo) Carlson of Marion, IA and Daniel Carlson of Clarinda, IA; brothers-in-law: Bob (Lynn) Peterson of Okoboji, IA and Ken Petersen of Overland Park, KS;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held
Monday, April 24, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.
At Mamrelund Lutheran Church at Stanton, Iowa

Visitation will be held at Mamrelund Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service on Monday April 24, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m.

Inurnment will take place at Arlington Cemetery, rural Stanton, IA
