Obituary

Larry Marvin Blay, the son of William and Ethel (Johnson) Blay was born June 12, 1941 at Atlantic, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 28 days.

Larry was raised and attended school in Red Oak, Iowa. As a child, Larry's favorite activities were football and marbles. In grade school he made the Red Oak Express by winning the school marble championship. On October 29, 1959, Larry was united in marriage with Dolores J. Smith in Red Oak. They made their home in Red Oak where over the years Larry worked for the Thos. D. Murphy Calendar Company, Uniroyal and finally D & L, from which he retired. Larry loved being outdoors amongst nature, especially camping with Dolores and their children and family. He also enjoyed developing camera film the old fashion way, with his own darkroom set up. Larry was a family man who loved and adored his wife, children, grandchildren and family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Billy (Marie) Blay, Raymond Blay and Frank Blay; sisters: Esther (Leo) Russ and Marie (Royal) Fox; son-in-law, Tim Treat; and brothers-in-law: Dale Elwood and Cliff Houtchens.

Larry is survived by his wife, Dolores Blay of Red Oak, IA; children: John (Debbie) Blay of Red Oak, IA, Kenneth (Tracy) Blay of Council Bluffs, IA and Tammy Treat (Dwayne Rowe) of Red Oak, IA; 10 grandchildren: Tina (Jerod) Weston of Red Oak, IA, Travis (Danielle) Treat of Omaha, NE, Tasha (Corey) Vestal of Red Oak, IA, Malia (Joe) Hendricks of Council Bluffs, IA, Bryant (Monica) Blay of Red Oak, IA, Marcus Blay of Red Oak, IA, Austin Blay, Tanner Blay and Riley Blay all of Iowa City, IA, and Reece Blay of Council Bluffs, IA; 7 great-grandchildren: Carter and Cambree Weston, Ben and Hank Hendricks, Berkley and Corbin Blay and Aubree Treat; brother, Robert (Judy) Blay of Villisca, IA; sisters: Jane Elwood and Ruby Houtchens of Red Oak, IA; sisters-in-law: Donna Blay of Twin Falls, ID and Carolyn Blay of Red Oak, IA; brothers-in-law: Gary (Jeanne) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA and Roger (Cheri) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with the family on Friday evening August 24, 2018 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Burial will be on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa
