Larry D. Franzen, 62 of Stanton, Iowa Larry Dean Franzen, the son of Dean and Wilma (Chubick) Franzen was born February 19, 1953 at Clarinda, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 62 years and 24 days. Larry was raised in the Wales and Red Oak area, graduating from Stanton High School in l971. He then attended Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Sheryl Bell on June 30, 1979 in Red Oak. Larry and Sheryl made their home in Stanton. Larry went to work in l978 at Union Carbide/Eveready Battery Company until its closing. He then worked at Parker-Hannifin for many years from where he retired. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, air boats and working on cars. He loved time spent with his sons and grandchildren. He was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church of Stanton. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Larry is survived by his wife, Sheryl Franzen of Red Oak, IA; two sons: Cody (Heather) Franzen of Stanton, Iowa and Kiel (Cheryl Jones) Franzen of Red Oak, IA; 4 grandchildren: Madison, Mason, Micah and Kiela; brother, Curtis (Sherry) Franzen of Elliott, IA; sister, Cheryl (Mark) McArdle of Des Moines, IA; step-son, Chad McAlpin of Council Bluffs, IA; 4 step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Larry's wishes were to be cremated Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Family requests memorials in Larry's name in lieu of flowers.
