Larry Eugene Johnson, the son of Dencil and Leona Arnold Johnson was born June 24, 1945 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 23 days. Larry was raised in the Essex area. He attended school in Essex and Panora, Iowa. Following school, he moved to Texas and later to Johnson City, Tennessee where he made his home for many years. Throughout Larry's career as a CNA he cared for the elderly. In 1994, Larry moved back to Red Oak due to his health. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak. Larry cherished spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and playing Bridge and other card games. Larry was preceded in death by his father. Larry is survived by his mother, Leona Johnson of Red Oak, IA; sisters: Sandra Hagemeier and husband Jack of Dallas Center, IA; Janet Darrell and husband Jerry of Red Oak, IA; and Lori Vance and husband Rick of Omaha, NE; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, Red Oak Burial of cremated remains at a later date at Essex Cemetery, Essex, Iowa Rev.
