Obituary

LaVose Josephine Lundgren, the daughter of Paul F. and Alveda J. (Swanson) Dahlstrom was born November 1, 1930 at Stanton, Iowa. She passed away after a brief illness on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 87 years and 16 days.
LaVose was baptized at her home on December 7, 1930 and later confirmed at Tabor Lutheran Church at Wallin on June 30, 1946. LaVose attended country school in Frankfort Township of Montgomery County, Iowa and graduated from Stanton High School in 1948. She continued her education at Luther College, Wahoo, Nebraska and Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. LaVose then taught school for three years in Essex, Iowa. On May 15, 1954, LaVose was united in marriage to Delaine Lundgren at Tabor Lutheran Church. LaVose was a member of the Fremont Covenant Church and then the Faith Covenant Church in Essex, after the two churches merged together. She was very active and served over the years as a Sunday school teacher, with the Covenant Women ministries which she held many offices, and sang in the choir. LaVose enjoyed being a part of the 4-T club, working puzzles, doing needlework, growing her plants and flowers, and camping. She loved her family dearly and traveling with Delaine.
LaVose was preceded in death by her parents and son, Jeffrey Lundgren on April 19, 2008.
LaVose is survived by her husband, Delaine Lundgren of Red Oak, IA; son, Jerry (Barb) Lundgren of Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law, Karen Lundgren of Essex, IA; 6 grandchildren: Mary (Bryan) Clark of Shenandoah, IA, Michael (Laura) Lundgren of Appleton, WI, John Lundgren of Chicago, IL, Emma (Wyatt) Girton of Thief River Falls, MN, Beth (Seth) Harvey of Shawnee, KS and Kathryn Lundgren of Omaha, NE; 5 great-grandchildren: Claire, Emilia and Eliza Lundgren and Alex and Levi Clark; her twin brother, Lavon (Martha) Dahlstrom of Clive, IA; and sister-in-law, Regina Welsch of Stanton, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to World Missions of Covenant Church or Covenant World Relief.
