Obituary

Lawrence Riley Foote, the son of Merrill A. and Minnie E. (Curry) Foote was born August 8, 1925 at Grant, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 17 days. Lawrence attended Foote Country School near Grant and graduated from Grant High School. Lawrence was united in marriage to Billie A. Weston on January 16, 1944 at Red Oak, Iowa. He served in the Army Air Force during WW II. Following his honorable discharge, Lawrence and Billie lived west of Grant until 1954, when they moved to Stanton. Lawrence owned and operated an automotive and farm equipment repair service for many years. He also farmed and provided custom combining services for other farmers. Later, Lawrence drove a rock truck and lime truck before driving a delivery truck for MoorMan's Feed. During the 70's and 80's, he became a salesman for MoorMan's. Lawrence was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church and the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 in Stanton. He served on the Stanton Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years and Stanton City Council, 15 years. Lawrence enjoyed flying line controlled airplanes, but he especially loved helping his sons with their race cars, along with watching them race at the Adams County Speedway. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billie on March 18, 2006; sisters: Thelma Taylor and Beatrice Adams; son-in-law, Ronald Koopmeiners; and great-granddaughter, Rylan Koopmeiners. Lawrence is survived by four sons: Gary Foote and wife Karen of Camdenton, MO; Terry Foote and wife Janice of rural Red Oak, IA; Larry Foote and wife Carol of Red Oak, IA and Brian Foote and wife Barb of Essex, IA; daughter, Sheryl Stanfel and husband Donald of Des Moines, IA; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Edwin Foote and wife Marilyn of Stanton, IA; and sister Phyllis Schuler of Atlantic, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton, IA Burial in Mamre Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406. Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home. Memorials to Stanton Fire & Rescue.
