LeRoy William Frederick Peterson, the son of Paul F. and E. Myrtle (Sederburg) Peterson was born January 6, 1928 at Stanton, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 1 day.

LeRoy attended eight years of elementary education in country schools in Page and Montgomery counties. He was baptized and confirmed at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa and since 1943, had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak. In 1934, there was an outbreak of infantile paralysis (polio). LeRoy had just started first grade when he became one of its victims; therefore, he lost the entire year of schooling. His mother's "limb therapy" must have worked, as his arms and legs were not affected. LeRoy farmed with his dad and worked for neighbors before buying a farm in 1949 in Sherman Township, Montgomery County, near Stennett. In 1960, he purchased the Stennett Elevator, which Leroy operated until 1983. Since that time, he farmed and raised hogs. LeRoy helped care for his mother and brother, Allen for many years. His close friend, Delaine W. Isaacson then helped care for LeRoy for the past 12 years. LeRoy always said, "He was thankful for his Christian parents."

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Dorothy Lantz Honett and Helen Marie Pendgraft and brother, Paul Allen Peterson.

LeRoy is survived by brothers: Carrol (Lois) Peterson of Alexandria, VA and Lawrence "Larry" (Martha) Peterson of Red Oak, IA; 11 nieces and nephews; close friend, Delaine W. Isaacson of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and friends.
