Kenneth LeRoy Helm, the son of Ernest S. and Lela M. (Christensen) Helm was born March 6, 1933, in Montgomery County, Iowa, near Elliott. He passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 8 days.

LeRoy was raised in the Elliott area and graduated from Elliott High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 11, 1953 and served during the Korean War. On February 28th, 1955, LeRoy was honorably discharge and returned home to work. LeRoy was united in marriage to Marcia L. Ross on October 2, 1955, in Red Oak, Iowa, where they also made their home. LeRoy drove a truck and delivered for Randy's Meats for 35 years. After his retirement, he worked at Red Oak's NAPA store for 12 years. LeRoy enjoyed traveling on their motorcycle trips, going to casinos, and loved to help his brother-in-law, Max Hossle during harvest. LeRoy was a past member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge. He cherished spending time at NAPA and meeting friends for coffee.

LeRoy was preceded death by his parents; wife, Marcia on August 12, 2009; grandson, Curtis Jackson; sister, Inez (Mac) Bundgard; brother, Edwin Helm; brother-in-law, Richard (Mary) Ross; and sisters-in-law: Doris Helm and Mary (Tom) Askey.

Leroy is survived by four children: Sonia (Dave) Jackson of Red Oak, IA, Tim Helm of Red Oak, IA, James (Deb) Helm of Stanton, IA and Monica (Dick) Culver of Red Oak, IA; 10 grandchildren: Hilary Jackson and significant other Steven Fitzwater, Nick Jackson, Rachel (Lee) Gebhardt, Melissa Bullington and significant other Brian Anderson, Val (Denny) Paulsen, Jessie (Kevin) Bruning, Chelsie (Jordan) Vrba, Joni Ernst, Julie Ellers and significant other Joe Herbert, and Wade (Sarah) Culver; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: Elmer Helm of Elliott, IA and Sam Helm of Red Oak, IA; sisters-in-law: Gwen (Max) Hossle of Red Oak, IA and Jane Helm of Red Oak, IA; and special friend, Fern Platt of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and friends.

Family requests facial masks be worn.

Visitation with the family on Thursday morning before the funeral from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
