Obituary

Lois Jean (Jackson) Peterson passed away on November 22, 2020, at the age of 88. She was born on August 8, 1932, near Tenville, IA. Jeannie was the fourth of five children to Florence (King) and Glen Jackson.

Jeannie grew up on farms in the Tenville area where she learned the value of having a good work ethic. She graduated from the Villisca High School in 1949 and then joined the office staff working for the Tyler Brothers Bottling Company. She met Keith Peterson of Stanton during this time and they were married on July 11, 1953, in Compton, CA. Keith was in the USMC, so Jeannie returned home to work, joining her husband when he returned stateside. To this union four children were born: Danny, Donna, Karl, and Linda.

Keith and Jeannie started working together on various farms in the Wallin area, and then in 1968, they bought the farm where she was still residing when she passed. Jeannie loved farm life and always joined in the work involved. After retiring, they enjoyed auctions and collecting antiques. Jeannie also worked at the Three Crowns Café, was head cook at the Stanton Care Center, and cleaned homes for many people in Stanton and Red Oak. She also enjoyed the Neighborhood Club and the Women's Group at her church, Tabor Lutheran in Wallin.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith in November of 2014; brother, Ron; sisters, Maggie and Marilyn; and in-laws, Jeanette & Lester Bredberg, and Clayton & Sylvia Peterson.

Left to cherish Jeannie's memory are Danny (JoAnn) Peterson of Stanton, Donna Viegut of Loveland, CO, Karl (Candace) Peterson of Lenox, IA and Linda (Tom) Snyder of Clarinda, IA; 13 grandchildren: Katie (Jason) Hart, Klint (Este) Peterson and Kyle (Mindy) Peterson; Jason Viegut and Jennifer (Michelle) Teller-Viegut; Britney (Tom) Conlon, Alex (Anna) Peterson, Tyler (Maggie) Peterson & Mason (Regan) Peterson, and Madison (John) Bisignano; and Jessica Snyder, Erin (Justin) Kirsch, and Megan Snyder. Plus Jeannie enjoyed 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Janice (Ron) Scott, and 2 in-laws, Dee Jackson and Norman Younggren, plus many nieces, nephews and friends.

May God grant His peace to all who mourn Jeannie's passing.
