Lois Jean Wallin, the daughter of Edward R. and Bertha Ross Sederburg, was born December 31, 1930 near Stanton, Iowa. She passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 13 days. Lois was raised south of Stanton, Iowa and attended country school. The family moved to a farm northeast of Clarinda, IA where she graduated from Clarinda High School. She furthered her education having attended two years of junior college in Clarinda. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught one year of country school. Lois was united in marriage to A. Dale Wallin on August 17, 1951 at Bethesda, Iowa. They began farming in the Bethesda area in l951. Lois worked seasonally for Henry Fields in Shenandoah during the late l970's and early l980's. She and Dale moved into Red Oak in l984, and retired from farming in l985. Lois loved to china paint; and she painted a full tea set for each of her grandchildren. Lois and Dale enjoyed golfing, and spent at least 25 winters in Arizona. Lois was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA and ladies quilting, along with serving many years as a Sunday School teacher. Lois was a past member of the Study and Service Club of Essex, Iowa. Lois was preceded in death by her father and granddaughter, Danielle Wallin. Lois is survived by her husband, Dale Wallin of Red Oak, IA; four sons: Gene Wallin and wife Mary Lou of Houston, TX; Paul Wallin and wife Sue of Wasilla, AK; Mark Wallin of Ft. Madison, IA; and Greg Wallin and wife Jolene of Bethesda, IA; mother, Bertha Sederburg of Stanton, IA; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother, Wayne Sederburg and wife Rogene of Essex, IA; and sister, Mrs. Karen Patterson of Essex, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
