Lola Blanche Ogden, the daughter of Lester and Helen (Embree) Smith was born July 20, 1917 in Cass County, Iowa. She passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 9 months and 15 days.
Lola was raised on a farm north of Grant, Iowa, graduating in 1935 from Grant High School. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa and lived there for a few years. Lola was united in marriage to John N. Ogden on October 18, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. They made their home on a farm east of Red Oak until 2005, when they moved into Red Oak. Lola had worked 13 years in the dietary department of Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. In 2010, she moved to Nevada, Iowa. Lola enjoyed square dancing in her younger years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past member of the Monday Club and Neighborhood Club.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on September 17, 2005; an infant daughter, Mary Helen and brother, Raymond Smith.
Lola is survived by her son, Steven Ogden and wife Becky of Nevada, IA; and daughter, Sandra Adams of Port Charlotte, FL; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
