Obituary

Louise Larson, formally named Emma Catherine Louise Larson, passed away peacefully very early in the morning of December 26, 2013, in Seattle, Washington. She had suffered two broken legs after being hit by a car on December 16 and was successfully recovering from a surgical repair. It was a sudden unexpected change of events when on December 24 she was scheduled to enter a rehabilitation setting and succumbed to a massive stroke. She died two days later. Louise was 82. Louise will be fondly remembered by family and friends here in Seattle, as well as in Arizona and California. She is survived by a sister, Carla and niece, Jamila both living in Arizona.

The first of three children, Louise was born June 20, 1931 at Saskatoon, Canada to her American parents, Harold W.E. Larson and Hilma Peterson and later gained her US citizenship. Her father held a PhD in Soil Science. He was very successful as a consultant and teacher. The family moved frequently.

Louise was a High School honor student and completed a BS in Chemistry at the U of Washington and an advanced degree in social studies. Her longest employer, over 30 years, was the State of Washington admissions department of Harborview Hospital.

Louise was deeply concerned and motivated to activism regarding local and worldwide social issues and a major financial contributor to many. Three of her main beneficiaries were the University Unitarian Church, Oxfam America, and Washington Environmental Council. If you wish to remember her these organizations would benefit.
