Luis Ramos-Estrada, the son of Martin Ramos Estrada and Agustina Estrada-Maciel, was born March 19, 1949, at Las Ranas, Michoacan, Mexico. He passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Methodist-Jennie Edmundson Hospital, Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Luis was raised in Mexico where he began working as a young teenager. Luis was united in marriage to Maria Guadalupe-Ramos on June 3, 1973, and to this union 9 children were born. Luis worked in construction, and also for 9 months out of the year, in the harvest fields of California. Eventually, Luis was able to move his wife and children to California, when in 2001, the family moved to Red Oak, Iowa, where it was economically easier to live. Luis worked near Villisca, Iowa, at Sunbest Papetti Farm, until he was 71 years old. Luis was a kind, warm hearted and hardworking man. He enjoyed playing baseball and especially spoiling his grandchildren. He was a beautiful carpenter and enjoyed making furniture. Luis attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Oak, involved in adoration and never missed a mass. His faith in God was strong.
Luis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Juan Manuel Ramos-Saldana; brother, Jose Ramos-Estrada and sister, Maria Socorro Ramos-Estrada.
Luis is survived by his wife, Maria Guadalupe Ramos; sons: Jorge Ramos-Saldana, Jose Manuel Ramos-Saldana, Salvador Ramos-Saldana, Jaime Ramos-Saldana, Pedro Ramos-Saldana, Javier Ramos-Saldana, Gilberto Ramos-Saldana and daughter, Marissa Ramos-Saldana; brothers: Isaiaz Ramos-Estrada and Eloy Ramos-Estrada; and 20 grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
