Obituary

Lyda Frances Larson, the daughter of Kelly R. and Violet M. (Templeton) Marsh was born March 2, 1930 in Elliott, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 1 day. Lyda was raised in the Elliott area and graduated from Elliott High School in 1948. Lyda was united in marriage to Vernon D. Larson on October 27, 1948 at Red Oak, Iowa. Lyda worked with her husband, Vernon in their plumbing business "Larson Plumbing & Heating" until their retirement in 1992. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA, bible study groups and always ready to lend a helping hand with kitchen work. Lyda was a 50 year plus member of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary, and an honorary member of the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department. She loved her family and being with her grandchildren. Lyda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on November 9, 1999; brother, Jack Marsh; sister-in-law, Jean Larson; and brothers-in-law: Donald Thomas and Buddy Smith. Lyda is survived by three children: Dennis Larson of Red Oak, IA; Connie Larson of Oakland, NE and Joe Larson of San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren: Lynn and Trent; two great-grandchildren: Reece and Jacob; two brothers: Orville (Kay) Marsh of Sedalia, MO and George (Phyllis) Marsh of Cincinnati, OH; four sisters: Anna Mae Smith of Elliott, IA, Beverly (Bob) Brumett of Marshall, MO, Roberta Thomas of Springfield, MO and Ruby Jean Marsh of Sedalia, MO; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Porter of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Red Oak, Iowa Rev. Dr. George Hooper, Officiating A family burial will precede the service at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak. A memorial is being established in Lyda's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
