Lyle Eugene Myers, the son of Edwin L. and Wilma M. (Ekstrand) Myers was born June 18, 1937 at Lewis, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 11 days.
Lyle was raised in the Lewis and Red Oak areas. He graduated from Red Oak High School and worked a few years for the Omar Bread Company. In 1959, Lyle went to work for Burlington-Northern Railroad, working out of Fremont, Nebraska and Fort Worth, Texas. In 1999, he retired after 40 years of service. Lyle was a history buff; in the mid-1970's, he built an old town replica of Red Oak Junction on the corner of highways 34 and 48. He also loved dancing and between that and his love of history, was the main driving force in restoring an old barn north of Stanton, Iowa, which held many dances and celebrations. Following his retirement, Lyle moved to Forsythe, Missouri, where he met Charlotte Kay Blount. On March, 16, 2006, Lyle and Kay were united in marriage at Corning, Iowa. He enjoyed genealogy, country music, gardening, selling gooseberries, and going dancing with his lovely wife, Kay at least 3-5 times a week. Lyle was a member of the Presbyterian Church and past member of Red Oak Lions club.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; three children: Brian, Danny and Debra; two sisters: Doris Myers and LaDonna Spooner and her husband, Kenneth.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Kay Myers of Red Oak, IA; children: Rick (Amy) Myers of Red Oak, IA and Cindy (Scott) Rolenc of Red Oak, IA; step-children: Wayne (Wisper) Blount of Paragould, AR, Christopher (Heather) Burks of Lincoln, NE and Heather (Joey) Lewallen of Marmaduke, AR; 14 grandchildren: Nicholas (Crystal) Rolenc, Jennifer (Jason) Roberts, Mysti Rolenc, Amanda Myers, Maranda Myers, Gabby and Brooksie Blount, Jayse Hogan, Atticus, Lincoln and Gabriel Lewallen, Ezekahial Wheeler, Zayne and Zariannah Burks; 6 great-grandchildren; and 4 brothers: Dean (Joyce) Myers of Villisca, IA, Dale Myers of Texas, Lynn (Debra) Myers of New Brunswick, TX and Donald (Kathy) Myers of Villisca, IA; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
