Mardy Ann
Mckinney
August 18, 1959 – May 17, 2023
Mardy Ann (Morrison) McKinney passed at 63 years old in Shawnee, KS after a short illness. She joined her Savior, Jesus Christ on May 17, 2023. Mardy's faith in Jesus grew every day and she is at peace with him and her heavenly family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday June 17, 2023 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, 509 N 6th Street, Red Oak, Iowa. Graveside Service and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa.
Mardy was born on August 18, 1959 at Red Oak Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa to Wesley Dick Morrison and Joan (Nazerene) Morrison. Mardy graduated from Red Oak High School in 1978. She frequently joked about having a track record that stood for decades, and as she joked, will stand forever since races changed from yards to meters. That is the way Mardy was, positive, fun and always joking. After high school, Mardy attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, then left Iowa to learn at the Lawrence, KS Floral Design School.
In 1980, she met her husband and the love of her life Kenneth G. McKinney, while attending floral design school and living in Olathe, KS with her sister Lindy. Kenneth and Mardy were married in Olathe on September 2, 1982. March 21, 1989 "Mac" and Mardy gave birth to their only child Andrew. Mardy, Mac and Andrew were inseparable along with their numerous dogs through their fun life journey together. Their dogs were part of their family and received royal treatment! Mardy was blessed with two step-daughters, Donica Littrell and Daleen Mumaw from Mac's previous marriage. Mardy enjoyed her long talks with Donica everyday.
Mardy really knew how to create a party atmosphere and make sure everyone had fun. Whether it was a holiday party at the McKinney's, a Pride Cleaners' Baseball party or a family party, Mardy made sure the atmosphere was lively and fun. Her signature holiday meal was when she prepared her "Huge" Thanksgiving feast. Mardy prepared it all, veggies, casseroles, jellos, deserts, all the way to the traditional turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was her labor of love for her family.
In her final months, Mardy was serious and committed to her Christian beliefs along with her commitment to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She attended the Rock of KC Church in Platte City and was committed to absorbing everything that was taught. When called, she was prepared and ready to meet Jesus and see her spiritual family.
Mardy is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth G. McKinney, her father Dick Morrison, her mother Joan Morrison and her brother Steve Morrison.
Mardy is survived by her son Andrew and his wife Dani McKinney, step-daughters Donica Littrell and Daleen Mumaw, sister JoLynn (Lindy Morrison) Rolofson, brother-in-law Carey Rolofson, sister-in-law Roberta Morrison, cousins Paula and Carla, nieces Amanda Campbell and Jamie Ligon, nephews Brett Rolofson, Robbie Morrison, and Jeff Morrison, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, her lifelong and closest friend Julie "Kerkhoff" Mellott, and her dog Fred.
Her only regret in her worldly life is not getting the pleasure and joy of meeting her grandson, Theo McKinney who will be arriving soon, but we are all sure that in heaven, Mardy will be there for Theo's life on earth.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Theo McKinney.
