Margaret Alice "Mickey" Evans, the daughter of Oscar and Sylvia Wood Young was born May 29, 1920 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008 at Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 3 days. Mickey was raised in Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School and attended Red Oak Junior College. Mickey was united in marriage to John L. "Jack" Evans on November 19, 1939 in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived many years in Red Oak and Emerson. Mickey was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Red Oak where she was active in various church events. She loved children and served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years along with being involved with the PTA in Red Oak. Mickey was active in the Republican Party, P.E.O. Chapter HB and enjoyed playing bridge and tennis with friends and family. She spent many summers with loved ones at Lake Okoboji and loved to swim. She became a resident of Stanton Care Center in May of 2002. Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; two sisters: Katherine Young and Sally Young; and brother, Thomas Young. Mickey is survived by 4 children: David Evans and wife Mary of Evergreen, CO; Nancy Dalton and husband John of Garden City, MO; E. John Evans and wife Kim of Santa Rosa, CA; and Thomas Evans and wife Janeen of Omaha, NE; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Red Oak.
