Marjorie Doris Alta Erickson, the daughter of Carl and Vernice (Youngberg) Lantz was born January 15, 1928 in Montgomery County, Iowa, southwest of Stanton. She passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 28 days. Marjorie graduated in 1945 from Stanton High School. Following graduation, she worked at Spurgeon's in Red Oak. Marjorie was united in marriage to Marion D. Erickson on May 7, 1946 in Stanton. Marjorie worked for Three Crowns Café in Stanton before starting a career in 1971 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. She retired in January of 1992 with 21½ years of service to the hospital. Marjorie was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church, being active in the WELCA and quilting groups. She also enjoyed being a member of the Friendly Study Club and Neighborhood Club. Marjorie loved living on her farm, planting and caring for her flowers gardens and cooking. She cherished spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids, and attending their sporting events. In 2013, Marjorie moved from the farm to Red Oak. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion on January 15, 1981; grandson, Aaron Yardas; brother, Carol A Lantz; sister, Dorothy Carbaugh; and brothers-in-law: Donald Platt and Clarence Carbaugh. Marjorie is survived by her three daughters: Cheryl Haynie and husband Larry of Stanton, IA; Debra Dunblazier of Glenwood, IA; and Carla Yardas of Red Oak, IA; five grandchildren: Kevin Haynie of Kingfisher, OK; Michael Haynie of Stanton, IA; Jillian (Tim) Winters of Canby, MN; Ryan (Crystal) Dunblazier of Tacoma, WA; and Kristi Yardas of Bellevue, NE; seven great-grandchildren: Kelby and Adrian Haynie, Kody Radice, Kamryn and Cydney Dunblazier, Allison and James Winters; and sister, Jean Lofgren and husband Robert of Red Oak, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton, Iowa Burial in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa Rev Dr. Eric Kutzli, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Wednesday evening September 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
