Obituary

Marjorie Alcinda Nelson, the daughter of Harry and Rose Kelley Strickland was born April 25, 1913 in Douglas Township of Page County, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa, the age of 97 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Marjorie was raised on a farm south of Stanton. She graduated with the Stanton High School class of l931. Marjorie was united in marriage to Ivan V. Nelson on February 14, 1935 in Villisca, Iowa. After their wedding, Marjorie and Ivan lived on a farm south of Coburg. Marjorie worked a few years for Murphy Calendar Company and then 10 years with the dietary department at Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. In 1969, they made their home in Coburg, living there through the late 1980's when they moved into Red Oak. Marjorie was an active member of the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman. She enjoyed her neighborhood clubs, raising Boston Terriers dogs and helping Ivan with their garden.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Ivan V. Nelson on September 28, 2005; sister: Florence Victor; and brothers: Lloyd Strickland and Harry Strickland Jr.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Shelley Wilmeth and husband Robert of Red Oak, IA; four grandchildren: Michael Wilmeth and wife Rachael of Omaha, NE; Brett Wilmeth and wife Karen of Atlanta, GA; Blake Wilmeth and fiancee Jami Anderson of Omaha, NE; and Blair Wilmeth and fiance Adam Rush of Elliott, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

at the Fremont Lutheran Church, Nyman, IA
