Obituary

Mary JoAnne Baker, the daughter of Ivan and May Peterson Doll was born August 6, 1934 on a farm in Montgomery County, Iowa near Strand. She died on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 24 days. Mary was raised in rural Villisca, Iowa, graduating from the Villisca High School in 1954. She worked for Junction Oil Company in Tenville from 1953 to l958. Mary was united in marriage to Albert Baker in 1958 at Villisca. Mary and Albert moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa in l958. She worked for Bemis Bag and Nishnabotna Girls Scouts. In 1968, Mary and Albert divorced. Mary began a 31 year career with Campbell Soup Company in Omaha in l968. While at Campbell Soup Company, she was a union steward and member of local #271. Mary met Edward J. Miller and they were companions until his death. She moved to Stanton, Iowa in 1997. Mary was a member of the Morton Mills Church, but while living in Council Bluffs attended Timothy Lutheran Church. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers: Galen, Orin, Lee and Paul Doll and Edward's daughter, Lily Townsend. Mary is survived by her daughter, Julie Adsit and husband David of rural Villisca, IA; 3 grandchildren: Amanda Maxson and husband Shane, Arthur Rhodes, Jr. and wife Loretta, and Edward Lockerby; 2 great-grandchildren: Trinytie Rhodes and Bryce Maxson; 4 sisters: Ellen Havens of Villisca, IA; Joyce Cherry and husband William of Honey Creek, IA; Eula Hiatt of Council Bluffs, IA; and Carol Sird and husband Ken of Council Bluffs, IA; Edward's children: Albert "Sonny" Miller, Jack D. Miller and wife Bev, Jerry Miller and wife Patricia, Edward "Tob" Miller, Shirley Stephens and husband Mac, Betty Caldwell and Donna Cash all of Council Bluffs, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Rev. Alan Dean, Officiating Visitation with the family will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until services at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials may be directed to the family.
