Obituary

Mary Beth Binns age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa, died on June 10, 2021, at the Red Oak Rehab & Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa.

Mary was born in Shenandoah, Iowa, on April 5, 1951, to John Binns and Luella Joan Hanson. Mary was raised by her grandparents, Wilfred and Ella Binns, on their farm south of Red Oak. After she graduated from Red Oak High School in 1969, she earned an Operating Room Technician Diploma from Iowa Western Community College in 1970. Mary enjoyed working in the home health care system, and helping others, before spending many years in the can and bottle redemption business. Most people remember Mary for her sarcastic sense of humor, her love of fishing, reading mystery books, and working on the family genealogy tree. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and sister, Kathleen Carter.

Mary is survived by her 5 children: Chris & Shelly Binns of Walnut, IA, Jeremy Binns of Council Bluffs, IA, Scott Wilson & Kerry Pryor of Red Oak, IA, Chad Wilson of Red Oak, IA and Julianna & Ryan Pieken of Thornton, CO. She is survived by 4 sisters: Sandra Dunkeson of Elliott, IA, Jackie Binns of Lincoln, NE, Tammy Hanson and Janet Williams, both of California. She had 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held
Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at
Eagles Lodge, 200 E Washington Street, Red Oak

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be directed to the Red Oak Public Library.

Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of Mary's arrangements.
